This is a concept for a deck of cards with symbols taken far too literally – i.e. an actual heart for hearts, an actual shovel for a spade, etc. The idea came from an overly literalist phase brought on by standards docs and other technical writing. 

They were painted using a CS5, CS6, and a Wacom tablet.
