Roger Federer is a Swiss professional right-handed tennis player. As of July 2016, he is the third-ranked tennis player in the world, with Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray ranked ahead of him, according to the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

On July 8, 2016, Federer played a semifinals Wimbledon match in England against Milos Raonic, and Raonic defeated Federer with a 6-3, 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-3 victory. After finding himself down early, Federer worked his way back in the match and took a two-sets-to-one lead. In the fourth set, Federer found himself one point from forcing a tiebreaker when he was at 5-6, 40-0, but Raonic won the next point. Federer double faulted twice in a row to bring the score to deuce. Raonic, known for his tough serves, broke Federer in the fifth set. Although Federer came back from a two-set deficit in the quarterfinals against Marin Cilic, he couldn’t come back against Raonic. The win allowed Raonic to become the first ever Canadian to play in a Grand Slam final, which pitted him against Britain’s Murray, who ended up winning his second Wimbledon title and third Grand Slam.
