My inspiration for the Blue Ray cover of "Saving Private Ryan" was a big theme that ran throughout the movie (Get ready for spoilers!); Death. I know, it seems morbid, however throughout the movie we watch the main characters die one by one ending with the very main character played by Tom Hanks. This made me think of the way they honored soldiers in the field. They took the soldiers boots, gun and helmet and make a metephorical headstone. This major theme drove me to create this Blue ray cover.
The cover for "Band of Brothers" was inspired by one of the first chapters showing some of the ways soldiers got behind enemy lines. Paratroopers in the Airbourne Division jumped out of planes in order to get to the right positions for certain attacks (a lot of them were dropped in the wrong place!). All I could think of was all of the paratroopers dropping out of the sky. Therefore I decided to base the Blue Ray cover off of that scene.
Lastley for "Enemy at the Gates" I had a less specific theme for my inspiration. This movie is still set in WWII however is told from a Russian perspective. Most of the movies we see are told from the Allies however are very rarely told from Russia, whos struggles are shown through this movie. I wanted to represent all the efforts and guns that were drawn and pointed the Axis way.

Blue Ray Covers

I did this project for my Illustration II project. The goal was to create alternate Blue Ray covers for three different movies of the same theme.
