This light-hearted collage is about the transformative power of ambition and self-value (*also in relation to my 'd'Urban' mock brand which seeks to point at the empowering voice of fashion in its representational form i.e. NYC.) A lot of South Africans wear NYC t-shirts. There is a lot of respect for overseas brands but not much has been said in the way of fashion about how South Africans - or Durbanites see, or represent themselves. I'm glad that I'm starting to see this change through a transformation of image/status and higher local self worth. On a personal level: My Durbanite friends have shown me a lot about ambition and changed the way I see light :)
