Rada Water Filtration

Rada
Water collection and filtration
The intent of this project was to address water issues in developing nations in a sustainable manner that could be extrapolated into multiple scenarios across a wide strata of economic situations.

Natural resources in developing nations are feeling the brunt of world-wide pollution and scarcity. Water, one of the most plentiful resources on Earth, is often undrinkable and unusable for those who need it most.

With the increasing scarcity of clean water, the debate over who “owns” water will rage. I believe that water is a naturally occurring substance that should be a right for everyone, free and abundant.

For this to be a sustainable product, the selection of materials is critical. Naturally occurring materials, such as rubber from the rubber tree and carbon from charcoal was selected and used in conjunction with bio-based plastics when necessary.

The Rada water collection and filtration system is a multi-functional device that can easily gather potable water from existing dirty water by filtering through sustainable and locally created carbon from charcoal, or through distillation and condensation in the natural rubber dome and bladder system.

Due to its soft materials, Rada will roll up into itself for portability.

The Rada system works in two different configurations. By folding the funnel up, one is able to harvest rainwater or pour collected water through the carbon filter for maximum effect in cleaning potentially hazardous water for consumption.
