The Jumping Spider (Salticidae)

Jumping spiders jump with enormous speed. I didn’t found any scientific measurements on the net, but if you watch the video included at the end you can see this little guy jump several times. It is like he would teleport to another place. My camera speed was set to 50 frames per second and didn’t manage to show the details. Even watching it frame by frame. It’s like the jumping spider disappears.

Most jumpers are very hairy and very small. Even the biggest one is not much more than a half-inch long.

They have eight eyes: two pairs of large eyes on the front of their head. Two medium sized eyes sit on the rear or back of their head and the final two eyes are tiny eyes that can be found on each side of their heads.
Some scientists claim that the jumping spiders can see colors and that they vision is similar to that of human beings.
