Roma Mitchell Secondary College is a new multi-campus secondary school which opened in Term 1 of 2011. Our brand new facility is purpose-built to engage students in 21st Century learning. It provides state-of-the-art flexible learning spaces within three campuses: girls-only, co-educational, and special education, co-located onto the one school site. The Co-Education Campus attracts students from within the local school zone. The Girls’ Education Campus is not zoned and students enrol from the broader metropolitan area. Student placement into the Special Education Campus is managed by the Northern Adelaide Regional Office staff through the Special Options Placement Process. Our school provides a rigorous, quality education for families living in the inner northern suburbs of Adelaide. It is designed to support students aspiring to university, TAFE and other community pathways. Students have the broader curriculum advantages of a large school and the security and support of being part of a smaller learning community. We are planning to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years program for students in years 8-10. Students in the senior school (years 11-12) study the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). Some students also choose to study nationally recognised certificates in vocational education and training at the same time as they complete their SACE. We have a purpose-built Special Education Campus that caters for the learning, social and physical needs of students with intellectual disabilities. Staff in this campus are highly skilled in working with special needs students and undergo ongoing professional development in this area. Our school also provides the option of a separate girls-only campus. This provides families with the choice of having their daughters in girls-only classes and extra-curricular activities.
