this project is the result of a visual art's subject concentrated on palpitation's topic. This notion led us to the text, the reading through the pace —this one can be slow, cut and chopped. The palpitation is also a sort of language of body, in particular with heartbeats. A parallel between this language and the text, read or written,
led us to realize an installation where editorial and motion work intertwine, talking about the relation between the layout and the reading time.
Concerning the edition, a certain protocol was established including some variations like the height, the weight, and the line-spacing. These fluctuating things appeared for us like a veritable playground of exploration, which generated different times of reading depending on pages.
Then, we recorded and timed the reading of these pages with the aim of creating a motion thing. This movie is composed of a whole of forms answering to the acoustic properties of the reading. We find, so, a certain harmony between editorial conception and projection.
The text chosen for the edition is an extract of the book Principes mathématiques de la philosophie naturelle, written by Isaac Newton and dealing with the topic
of the time and the space. The discovering of a notion near of our project lead us to entitle it like that; the prosody, in music, is the way are put in time and regulates the syllables of the text.
