Wander Collection - Hyphen Packtote

Initial research studied social and cultural shifts within the outdoors and everyday life. It became clear that new generations live, work and play very differently than previous generations. Everything is merged these days, with more focus on celebrating a higher volume of smaller adventurers than tackling the truly "Epic" ones. The bottom pages show "BIG IDEA" statements and a rough line list that were developed further.
Because the suspension on the Hyphen needed to move to accommodate different carry styles, we focused a lot on how to construct a self-adjusting suspension in the simplest way possible. One of our primary challenges of developing the moving suspension was keeping the main roll top opening unimpeded and easy to access.
Below is a nearly final concept for the Hyphen packtote and suspension design. We would later add top-stitched webbing stops and handles that helped keep the shoulder straps at equal lengths, even when only one was grabbed.
We developed several custom roller patterns for the main pack fabric, including: Infinite Mountain, Tonal Camo, and Geo-heather. Some of the early sketch explorations of these patterns are visible on the pages shown above.
