Scrap wood from the re-build, glued to ply, and the edges cut for a clean finish. The piece above is the one below, after painting with real gesso (whiting and rabbit-skin glue), sanding and finally staining with black wood stain and a coat of water-based varnish.
Above: scraps from - decking, window frames, door frames and built-in cupboards.  after two coats of gesso and before final sanding.
Above: window frame wood made a perfect H to frame some scraps of tanalised wood from some garden fencing. Next to another test piece before the edges were neatened up.
The bottom of the wardrobe door was cut to size, resulting in this offcut making a tall profile piece. Recycling the recycled. Chicken by Jill Rickard of Stockdale, Mylor.
Below: A rhythmic piece for a bathroom shelf. After glueing and before filling. Pieces from a rotten gazebo and a ripped-out cupboard.
