For Lou Reed’s performance of his 1973 concept album Berlin, along with Lola Schnabel, created a series of short films based on the main character of the album, Caroline, played by french actress Emmanuelle Seigner. These films were projected on- stage during the live performances.
I assisted Julian Schnabel with the live performances of Berlin, at St. Anne's Warehouse in Brooklyn NY, which entailed 30 musicians on stage, including an orchestra and youth choir. The 5 performances were captured on film under Mr. Schnabel’s direction by the renowned cinematographer Ellen Kuras.
Over the course of the next 6 months, combining the short films and the footage of the live performances, I edited the feature length concert film, Berlin. Working closely with Mr. Reed on the edit, I handled everything from the edit itself, to music mastering and color correction.
Berlin had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and went on to screen at the Toronto and San Sebastian Film Festivals among others.
The first video below is the theatrical trailer, which I also edited, for the feature length concert film. The film played in NYC and LA and other select cities and is now available on DVD.

Following the theatrical release of Berlin, Lou Reed took Berlin on the road for a 6 week European tour with stops in Italy, Germany, the UK, Spain and France. I joined the tour to supervise the show and handle the film projections on Mr. Schnabel's behalf.
