Orginally, I was going to create a portrait of a fox or raccoon, but when looking for reference I came across woodchucks and that was it! Their faces exude personality, so I  wanted to capture that in a gouache painting.  I kept the apple smaill so not to overpower the woodchuck.  And I included berry bushes since besides apples, is one of their favorite foods.
