DCCC Student Graduation Exhibition
Student Work: Strange Experiments with Typography
Mission: Create typography-based posters for the DCCC Student Graduation Exhibition.
Original size: 11in. x 11in.
Student work, Autumn, 2011.

Each poster was created with specific requirements restricting use of type, color palette, and graphics.

The first poster allowed use of one type family, one color (or tone), and optional use of solid or dashed lines.

The second poster's requirements echoed the first, but required use of a radial axis for the type.

The third allowed greater latitude towards the treatment of type and introduced the mandate of abstract graphic elements. I chose to challenge the rule regarding abstract graphics by making them representative of artwork hanging in a gallery and introduced transparency into the mix. As a side note, I discovered the beauty of the many variations of Akzidenz Grotesk during the creation of this poster.
