I attempted to create a growth cycle for the piece of furniture to complete, instead of its architecturally stagnant condition. The idea began as a fungus that was taking over the form of the piece of furniture, but instead it became part of the form. The idea grew into a fascination with the notion of the furniture article itself growing--molding--but into another form rather than being eaten by an outside material. I used a design--more articulately designed than a natural form, but with an organic feeling to harness the notion that the article of furniture had learned from being cut into a design.
