Bike to Work Week 2012
Bike to Work Week
Bike to Work Week is carried out yearly in many cities of the world. This year completed the eighth consecutive time the event has taken place in Reno, Nevada. I feel fortunate to be the creative mind behind the project since 2010.

The amazing part about the entire thing is not the poster, the website, or the free breakfast offered on friday morning.

–No.

What I find most fascinating and rewarding about the Bike to Work campaign, is the immense influence it has had in the community. So far, more than 800 miles of road have been accommodated to include bike lanes within city limits. Thousands of bikers have ditched their vehicles to ride their bikes to work and school for (at least) a week, considerably  reducing the area's carbon footprint and making Reno a much more bike-friendly place.

"Bike to Work, School, And fun."  |  2012 poster

This year's poster was designed with a broad audience in mind. Various bicycle styles, along with the message, seek to speak to the rookie, the enthusiast, and dedicated cyclists alike.

This strategy's goal was to send a lighthearted and encouraging invitation to those who may not feel confident about their two-wheeler or physical condition. Perhaps, it would also re-asure those who already choose a velocipede over any gas-guzzler, that their community is making a solid attempt to shift toward health and social consciousness.

Or, simply to give them a chance to demonstrate their very own badassery.
