The 'non-place' in typography: type as an object

The non-place in typography: type as an object
- Installation Booklet

This publication documents the installation project Typography as a non-place: type as an object

The central question posed by this project concerns with the misjudge type goes through when serving as a reading/communicative support. Therefore, the final piece ‘transforms the empty, neutral public space into an individual artwork — and invites the visitor to experience’ the transformation of type into an object.

The installation results of an experimental and exploratory investigation of the relation between typography and architecture. Spatial Practive involves more than architecture; rather, its is based on a complex variety of contributors to space. Space is a condition. A condition that is not stable. I wanted the viewer to connect with and understand the constructed form. Not only was my intention to connect the viewer with the form but also for the viewer to find value beyond the built form.

The project is a result of my view on critical artistic practice in public space — over and above all expectation of art’s ability to respond adequately, or offer a solution, to the shortcomings of our society.
