Balsac 2012-One Scumdog We Can All Agree On

 Balsac 2012
One Scumdog We can All Agree On
I have been an avid fan of the trash metal band GWAR for some time now, and when a certain organization came under scrutiny this year I knew I had to put a scumdog spin on it.
I uploaded the Balsac 2012 poster to my personal tumblr blog hoping for critique from friends and followers. Within the first 24 hours the Jaws of Death himself not only found out about it, but tweetted a link to my blog page. Needless to say I  am still incredibly proud of this piece and am honored by his recognition.
Thanks to a very helpful push from Dave Brockie himself, this piece has reached a level of exposure faster than I ever would have dreamed. When I inquired about independently selling prints with the intention of donating all proceeds to the Smoot Family Fund, a donation drive benefiting the widow and unborn child of late Gwar guitarist Cory Smoot, I was prepared for long emails concerning copyright license and fine print.
I was floored when he instead gave his blessing without the slightest hesitation, and proceeded to advertise my work to his several thousand Twitter followers.

Update:
In the following months my work was sold along side their offical merch across America during their "Fate or Chaos" fall tour, with all proceeds donated directly to the Smoot family.

While I am very proud that my art has become an extension of a worthwhile cause and charity, the fact that people who I admire and respect for their artistic talents feel my work is good enough to become such an extension-is indescribable.
