4:48 Psychosis - Photography Work

4:48 Psychosis Performance, is a mad person’s room to witness her weltschmerz and tragic suicide and experience a unique dance performance with animation mapping. This performance tells us what can be happening to the human mind when the barrier between reality and dream, and several versions of them, is disappeared. 4:48 Psychosis is a drama written by Sarah Kane and is staged with dance performance and animation mapping by Erkam Doğrusöz.

  Sarah Kane | (3 February 1971 – 20 February 1999)
She was an English playwright. Her plays deal with themes of redemptive love, sexual desire, pain, torture - both physical and psychological - and death. They are characterised by a poetic intensity, pared down language, exploration of theatrical form and, in her earlier work, the use of extreme and violent stage action. Kane herself, as well as scholars of her work, such as Graham Saunders, identify some of her inspirations as expressionist theatre and Jacobean tragedy. The critic Aleks Sierz has seen her work as part of what he has termed In-Yer-Face theatre, a form of drama which broke away from the conventions of naturalist theatre. Kane’s published work consists of five plays, one short film, Skin, and two newspaper articles for The Guardian.

4.48 Psychosis Play; was the astonishing final work of her, first performed posthumously in 2000. Kane’s shortest and most fragmented theatrical work and written at a time when Kane was suffering from severe depression. Detailing the experience of clinical depression, the play harrowing reveals, through poetry, anger and dark humour, an individual’s struggle to come to terms with their own psychosis, the numbers in the title referring to the time in the early morning when clarity and bleak despair strike together.
