"Perhaps strictly speaking, the chosen medium of artist Luis Toledo is digital art. Really, though, Toledo is an artist of the raw image. He seems to corral the endless but familiar flood of imagery into hypnotically detailed digital collages. His compositions are at once vaguely reminiscent of European baroque artwork as well as Indian and South East Asian religious artwork. In a way the collages seem to be an artistic reflection of the way we collect and consume images. They speak a familiar visual language but appear to purposely overwhelm. If you look closely, you’ll find the images of the mundane beside the spiritual, the silly or trivial with the profound."
