A course in 3D illustration required us to conceptualize a Hobo, illustrate on paper and then model it in 3D. We were introduced to a never ending list of Hobo names and we noticed they are crazy names. We could pick out of the existing list or come up with our own. My Hobo is called - "Badey Tondji Happy Hai" (in hindi) which translates to "Big Paunch-ed Man Is Happy" Life is hard for homeless people, constantly on the move they need to figure out interesting ways to survive. Badey Tondji is a lover of food, his mother taught him a very important life lesson. To make Rotis (an indian bread). She also left him with a rubber band as a parting gift. Today Badey Tondji makes roti's for cheap hotels at lightening speed in return for a good scrumptious meal. He then wanders off in search of his next meal... but he somehow can't get the food out of his hair... Read Less

After creating the basic structure with wire, we start moulding the face with paper strips dipped in a solution of flour and fevicol. 
For features like the nostrils, lips, eyeballs etc (protruding parts) - i have used tisue paper dipped in the same solution. 
Since my wire frame was showing through i needed to mould cheeks, i started to add extra layers of tissue paper...
 
FINISHED HOBO! 
Yes...he braids his beard..stays out of food and such. :)
Details of teeth, moustache, skin...
Yes those are chocolate wrappers forks and pasta in his hair!
