MaskaraMo
The Philippines is known for its festive, friendly and irrepressible smile.
Perhaps it’s because we know that in any ways, everything can be more fun in the Philippines.
The DIY Pinoy Maskara serves to put a personal face to this jovial spirit.

Various indigenous tribes already make use of masks in the Philippines, with perhaps the
Bacolod Smiling Maskara being one of the most iconic.

This project proposes the 'Maskara Mo' initiative.
A DIY Pinoy Mask that serves as a blank canvas for people to share their own smiles.

It encourages people to craft their own Filipino experience, and tell the stories behind their
own smiles. Each person from each tribe from each region from each island, could give it
their own touch. And visitors coming to the Philippines can either collect masks (almost like badges,)
or make their own as well.

We could launch with designer Maskaras to display the potential and possibilities found in each mask.
Imagine different designs, using different styles, coming from different artists, from diverse cultures.
Perhaps even a line of masks from world-renowned Filipino artists and designers.

The result is a brand identity tool for the country which every person, local or foreign,
can make his own. Much like the Philippine experience.
With a little support, it could become something that will put a smile on everyone’s faces.
