Thousands of them have lived underground. They've lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside.

Thousands of them have lived underground. They've lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside.
The novels also talks about how the only way to see the world above is through these old security camera that over time have dead white pixels. This is how I came up with this concept. The novel is written by Hugh Howey, and he does a great job of pulling in the reader and making us not want to put the book down. So I wanted to try to make a compelling and mysterious title sequences that would pull the audience in.
The typeface was created individually square by square so that it could be individually animated.
