MAGNUS CLOUD INTERFACE

From analysis of the research carried out, we settled on a concept of a cloud-based interface that was more than just a storage application and was not limited in terms of its compatibility across devices. We also did not want it to be limiting in terms of its cloud-storage capacity, but since our research showed anything more than a few gigabytes quickly became very expensive, our interim solutionto that problem was a networked storage device which would essentially act as a personal server, but unlike GoToMyPc, the user’sother devices are not required to stay powered on. To access data, the user can simply directly stream anything on their networkedstorage device direct to their other connected devices at any time. The service would aim to cover all conceivable requirements of the user, from work-related to entertainment as well as social media. With the development of more and more cloud-based apps, the interface’s potential would continue to expand. We wanted the cloud-based interface to have a tile-based layout that was easily customisable.
We designed a feature specifically for organised families, that was a digital notice board designed to be less easily overlooked unlike the conventional post-it note on the fridge door. Other features would include: easily swapping screens as well as media between devices, voice recognition, cloud-based gaming, intelligent text and image detection for auto back-up in the cloud, secure remote access of devices within the network and a “wipe” facility for lost or stolen devices.
