XiTang, a water village in China

XiTang
A water village in China
The history of this ancient village can be dated back to 400BC. However, most buildings left here now were built from Ming Dynasty (13th century) to Qing Dynasty. (from 16th century) It's crisscrossed by nine rivers and linked by old-fashioned stone bridges. In the old time, those water passages could lead to the capital of that time, Nanjing, about 200km away. These rivers played a very important role in traffics and merchants shipping for the locals. The main river here is about 2km in length. The village keeps a tranquil ambience and scenic beauty, making it a very popular tourist attraction. Today, it's the restaurants, inns, hostel and shops occupying both sides of the rivers.
