Award Submission: ABC Excellence in Construction, Nolte Road
May 2012

After evaluating what it would take to win the ABC Marketing Award of Excellence, looking at what firms were doing great and what we could do better, we decided to take our award submissions to the next level back in 2012. We were submitting one of Turner’s first road projects that year. We started off with our routine brainstorming session in our marketing department, where we jokingly throw out unrealistic crazy ideas. Eventually we concluded we would pave our binder with actual concrete. We went to home depot, purchased some wire, bolts, and cement and drove down to the project jobsite. After a few trial & errors, and help from the project manager & superintendent, we successfully paved our submission. This brought us home our first ABC Excellence in Marketing award!
Award Submission: ABC Excellence in Construction, Rock Springs Elementary School
May 2013

This ABC Excellence in Construction award submission was for our ground up new construction Rock Springs Elementary School project. For this submission we decided to turn our binder into an actual chalkboard. We took an ordinary black binder, spray painted it with chalkboard spray, and had a printing company print the title and graphics on the cover. Next, the binder took a trip down to our local framing company where they custom framed the front cover. Lastly, we adhered a piece of chalk to the ledge and doodled and erased some drawings on the board to give it character.

Entry Book For Seminole Hard Rock Casino (Turner Construction Company)
Going for the marketing award which is awarded to the best binder submittal, I decided to turn my book into a poker table. I went to Hobby Lobby & purchased all the materials (felt, vinyl, glue, etc.) and then sent my felt out to be silk screened with the information the cover needed to display. I then went to Tampa to get the actual Casino playing cards & chips.
