my drawings generally start off as small thumbnail sketches. beginning with thumbnails allows refining the composition and its elements before committing time to the subordinate details.
after achieving a satisfactory composition and transferring it to a larger piece of paper, more interesting shapes and textures begin to emerge from the simple foundation.
