Emmitt Zone Television Show
Okay, now this was a fun assignment! As a returning adult student in the Scottsdale Community College Motion Picture and Television Program, I scored an internship at the local ABC affiliate working on Emmitt Smith's "Emmitt Zone" television show. It was produced by a joint venture between Smith's sports marketing agency and an independent production company that was contracting the use of some of ABC15's local talent, crew, equipment and production facilities.
Within a week of landing this opportunity, I was scheduling the activities of all interns, doing some light AVID work in the edit suites and assisting on location shoots. The owner of the production company promoted me to a paid Line Producer's role and I ended up writing and voicing a few of my own segments before leaving the show at the end of the term. I earned an academic excellence award that year for a 4.0 grade average on all my screenwriting, photography and digital media work.
