I was invited to design two one-of-a-kind McLaren MSO cars for the Pebble Beach Auto Show. The McLaren 720s Spider and the McLaren 600LT Forza Editions are designed to be visual siblings that appear both at the car show and within the Forza Motorsport game.
The MSO program at McLaren has a rich history to pull inspiration and learning from. We started by gathering examples of how others have utilized the program.
The final design for the 720S Spider drew inspiration from the McLaren Formula 1 team while not completely leaving the realm of a production car. For the 600LT I took a less aggressive visual approach since the car is already blurring the line between production car and race car.
