Thomas Finke serves as a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte’s Investment Committee, assisting the diocese in maintaining strong financial oversight.
The diocese holds several principles for strong financial oversight, one of which is having an investment committee that ensures compliance with investment policies and guidelines for social responsibility. There is also an active building commission that ensures diocesan guidelines are followed for new acquisitions and in all construction and renovation projects. The diocese’s finance council approves the central administration’s budget and the annual report, receives communications from the approved audit firm, and approves asset allocation.
In addition to the councils in place to monitor financial activity, the annual financial report of the diocese is mailed to every registered household and posted online within 120 days of the end of the fiscal year.
