I collaborated with custom vinyl toy company Kidrobot to produce a few one-off collections for their San Francisco based store. The toy that received the most attention from customers was the infamous Bio Burner. The toy was inspired by the graffiti sub-culture, integrating key details; spray tips, cans, paint drips, and contrasting colors of neon green + race red.
The foundation of this custom vinyl toy for Kidrobot is based on the "Munny" - that consist of various painting treatments and effects to obtain the base sheen. As for the use of entering/exiting piping and 1:1 scale skinny caps allows the viewer to follow an imaginary line throughout the munny.
To add more depth to the piping the entering/exiting pipes that come in contact with the body are detailed with the deep red accents to create a sense that the the body is being intersected. Follow that, the splatter of deep red drips express that the spray tips leaked on the form (the body).
key details include: spray tips, mini spray cans, and red detail pin-striping. I needed to integrate spray nozzles, silicone tubing and a neon color as requested by the client.The contrasting red and neon green accentuate the tube exit points.
