'All the Garden's a Stage: Choosing the Best Performing Plants for a Sustainable Garden', released in May of 2012 is Jane's whimsical book on gardening. It compares creating a garden with putting together a theatrical production -- casting characters (plants), designing the stage (landscape) and setting up systems to create the show. Jane uses a lifetime of experience "painting with plants" as a landscape designer, her years of writing (including gardening columns for magazines and newspapers) and her cartoon illustrations to make learning about gardening entertaining. (Jane also worked in theater for some years. She co-wrote and was the musical director for the RISD TAB weekend musical with George Stravinos in 1969.) "All the Garden's a Stage' is available at Schiffer Books, online and in bookstores in the United States and abroad.
