Paper Play / Explorations

Talk, Paper, Scissors
Playing with paper to create images.
As an illustrator I don’t restrict myself to conventional media.
We draw and write on paper, but what happens when we draw ‘with’ paper?
Torn, shredded, cut, folded, stuck, bent, twisted, crumpled, creased, rolled, sliced and arranged.
This is a series of explorations in paper that were done for projects - some for clients and some self initiated.
Most of these were done during my academic year in UAL, London, UK.

First experiments with paper, this was a cover for a physical telephone directory.
Grimms Fairy Tales - Puffin Books
This was a cover design for Grimm Brothers Fairytales.
I did not want to focus on any one story or character, but rather capture the mystery and the darkness of the tales.

Secret London Poster
Secret London Poster Competition, is organized by AOI (Association of Illustrators) & Museum of Transport. These are some drawings that I made for the poster.
I printed these drawings onto different elements of the poster, like the buildings and the sky.
My workspace
During my stay in London, I travelled by the DLR - they run through parts of the city at a height which allows you to look at buildings. into houses and into windows.
I have spent hours traveling through this particular route - from Woolwich Arsenal to Canary Wharf and Shadwell.
Both the parts of the route have a stark contrast in their living patterns, all of this has been captured in this poster.

Paper Play / Explorations

An alternative world, made in paper. These are tangible, three dimensional images where I have played with cuts, colours and shadows.
