Submission to the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) student assessment. The project's aim was to communicate an event using eye-witness accounts. The book reflects the unsuspecting nature of the car bomb as it is presented as a conventional saddle-stitched codex, yet as the book progresses the accordion bind allows the pages to expand upwards and outwards to resemble the explosion of the car bomb. As the book comes to an end, it returns to the format of a codex, symbolising the solidifying reality of death and the structural integrity required to advance in future after such a traumatic event. Despite my efforts, I did not receive a pass grade from ISTD.
