Euro's Greatest Goals

Euro's Greatest Goals is a visual celebration of some of the greatest goals ever scored in European Championship history. In anticipation of the upcoming Euro 2016 finals I designed a series of posters that capture some of the most iconic goals in the tournaments rich history. These Posters went on to feature at the Group Stage exhibition, featured in London and hosted by Patterns of Play. You can read more about this here - patternsofplay.co.uk
Marco Van Basten V. USSR, Euro 1988 Final

Hailed as not only the greatest ever goal in European Championships history but also footballing history, Marco Van Basten's superb volley from an impossible goalscoring angle v USSR in the 1988 final was worthy of winning any match.
Antonin Panenka V. West Germany, Euro 1976 Final

The Euro 1976 final was so tightly contested between Czechoslovakia & West Germany that the final eventually went to penalties. After several spot kicks Czechoslovakia found themselves needing to score one penalty to win the tournament. Many of mortal men would shrink under such pressure but not Antonin Panenka, who taking a fast run up tricked the goalkeeper by chipping the ball over him to secure the championship for his country.
Oliver Bierhoff V. Czech Republic, Euro 1996 Final

In the Euro 1996 Final, after a stalemate 90 minutes Oliver Bierhoff made history for Germany, scoring the all important Golden Goal to seal the title for the Germans against
the Czech Republic.
Paul Gascoigne V. Scotland, Euro 1996 Group Stage

Infamous not only for the magnificent goal but for the elaborate dentist chair celebration following it, Paul Gascoigne's chip and volley v Scotland in the Euro 1996 finals is
widely recognised and fondly remembered (by England fans) as one of the greatest goals
in Euros history.
Michel Platini V. Portugal, Euro 1984 Semi-Final

During a keenly contested semi-final between France v Portugal, with the game at 2-2 in extra-time and heading to penalties, up stepped Michel Platini to deliver the killer blow to Portugal and take France the Euro 1984 Final.
