Reduction is the key word for a new approach to industrial object, effective and affordable. At a time when there was great concern about the shortage of raw material, energy and other consumption associated with the production of any industrial or handicraft. The “PAC” comes in the need to reduce. On the other hand, instead of assuming a more streamlined aesthetic, sought to introduce a more dynamic and less predictable for what is an armchair industry. Although you want to display a new form, the issues of ergonomics and industrial production are never ignored, but rather a process prior to the formal end of the project.

Based on the requirements mentioned above, it was decided to opt for the technology of plywood, for its strength and conformation potential. In perspective of reducing production costs, it was considered operating with only two conformation molds. The resulting chair is composed of three elements deinking: hind legs, front leg and back, and armrest. The main component, the back / leg serves as the “backbone” of the chair, adding the remaining elements. The assembly is made by alignment of faces to create a more organic relationship between components, contrasting with the individual synthetic character.

The use of only two molds results in two identical components profile, taking into account the limit to only three elements. The profiles are pre-conformed plywood and then cuted with the desired geometry, looking for the lowest possible waste of material. These cuts are made with CNC technology. After the machining of parts, is held the assembly phase, consisting of the bonding between the areas of lesser thickness, in order to align the plans of the chair. The amount of glue should be equivalent to the conformation of the plywood, to create an extension of it and ensure strength.
