Little Red In The Woods is a reinterpretation of the renowned tale
Little Red Riding Hood, told only through Graphic Design and Art Direction.
This photo book contains a sequence of 32 pictures of graphic design pieces, creating the thread of this revisited version of the tale.
In this new version, yesteryear’s forest has been cut down and replaced by a brand new supermarket called The Woods where Little Red has to buy insulin for her Grandmother.
My main objective was to tell a story transmitting messages and emotions and experimenting with new formats and techniques.
All the Art Direction, Photography, Graphic Design, Concept and Story have been made by myself, François Andrivet.
Little Red receives a message from her grandmother on an smartphone app.
"I need Insuline for my Diabetes, could you go through The Woods and buy me some?" asks the grandmother.
Little Red dresses up, putting her phone on the inside pocket of her "RED" hoodie made in Nepal by underpaid grandmothers.
Yesteryear's forest has been cut down and is now a new supermarket.
In this version, the wolf is not a person but a whole supermarket talking through posters, flyers and promotions.
The wolf also hides in the logo, he hides in The Woods.
After seeing so much promotions and how merry The Woods were, Little Red starts buying a lot of useless items, filling her basket with random products.
"Where are you, I'm worried" asks the grandmother by message. Little red realises she has been buying stuff for hours and goes to the register where she pays an endless list of items.
"You're late; what's that load you're carrying, what on earth did you buy?" Grandma sees Little Red with a lot of bags and wants to know what Little Red ahs been doing all those hours.
Now begins a dialogue between Little Red and the grandmother, in which the roles are reversed and Little Red acts like the wolf.
Little Red bought anything but Grandmother's insulin, leading the tale to its tragic ending.
