Luaty Beirão, Freedom of speech in Angola

Luaty Beirão is a young musician / actvist acused of preparing a rebellion and an attack to the regime of Angola led by José Eduardo dos Santos. Along other thirteen people he was caught on June 20th, 2015 in Luanda, before a meeting that would take place to debate on the political situation of the country and about non resistant violence to opression.

From September 9th to October 27th, Luaty went through 36 days on a hunger strike to raise awareness on the situation and to demand that the group that was arrested could wait for trial in liberty. Unfortunately he had no sucess, and on March 28th of 2016 he was condemned to 5 and a half years in prison.

This poster was made during the time that Luaty was on hunger strike, vigils were made in Portugal as protest to demand his freedom, this was mainly an exercise of composition and typography that I used to think about the situation and show my support to Luaty.
