GURANO BINTANG ; a local name for whale shark species in Papua, Indonesia.
It is named 'Bintang' (star) because of white dots pattern on their body that spark like stars under the sea.
Whale shark is the biggest fish on earth. They appear years around in Indonesia which is a uniqueness that is not found in any other countries. Unfortunately, the whale shark fining activities makes their population continue to decreas. It Makes whale shark included in list of threatened species. More over, Indonesia doesn’t have any public literature regarding this species, especially for children. This illustrated children’s book using theory form children’s illustration study and interview with experts in the field of marine life, will become an educational media about whale shark. The book combined with adventurous-fiction story that introduce the species with interesting approach.The targets are 7-9 years old children whom have high interest on reading stories with educational content.
