Following our work at the Caul field Campus, MGS was awarded the prestigious and challenging role of developing the masterplan for th Clayton Campus. This campus of 20,000 students is a major centre for science and research adjoining CSIRO and Synchotron, and is adjacent to the Monash Medical Centre. The masterplan explores the growth potential of thes key stakeholders. Our challenge has been to inject the campus with 24/7 life and to realise this vision within achievablebudgetary constraints. Wayfinding and placemaking are two of the key strategies employed in the masterplan concept design. Public transport hubs and a new multi-faculty learning hub are established at the arrival precinct. From here, a network of shared bike / pedestrian paths link key nodes (new
and existing) on the campus. New student housing frames a proposed college walk linking original colleges via
an eco-walk area to the campus heart.
