Breast Cancer Educational Toolkit

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with on average 140 women being diagnosed every day. Early detection is key to enable better treatment and in turn increase the chance of survival. This project aims to change the way young women are educated to help spread awareness and encourage women to be more open about their breast health.

The toolkit is designed to be used as an educational resource, aimed at girls ages 16-18. It contains a deck of cards containing information such as breast anatomy, breast cancer symptoms, treatment options and more. Along with the cards is a "What Happens Next?" leaflet, which details the user journey once a lump or other symptom has been found. The third element to the toolkit is a reminder magnet that the user can put in a visible place in their home to encourage them to check their breasts.

Fact cards are inclued in the deck: "Men can get breast cancer too" and it's important to open up this conversation. Having the information come from someone you trust such as a family member of friends enables this.
"What Happens Next?"
Part of the fear is not knowing what to expect after having found a lump or other symptom. This leaflet briefly details the steps taken including where you will go, what tests you may have done and your treatment options.
