Project Brief | This project was a part of my first college level design studio. It was a fundamental, non-discipline specific studio, with a range of projects that were meant to teach design thinking and design fundamentals. The brief for this project was to design and build something that manipulates light and space. I chose to design myself a desk lamp, of which the form was inspired by the wooden ceiling trusses in my studio space at the time. I bent the form to direct the light downward, and thus more functional as a desk lamp.
Techniques Used | Ideation sketching; Modeling in basswood, Steel, acrylic (sandblasted to frost), and LED strip lights; various wood and metal working tools were used to construct and finish this project.
