Brain Machine Interaction
This is my first Physical computing Installation which I presented in the technical festival of IIT Bombay. It is basically a brain controlled two player wrestling game.
Technology
I have used Neurosky Mindflex EEG Sensor which detects
- Attention
- Meditation
- Other raw signals (alpha, beta, gamma and delta ranges from high to low)
Working
The hardware setup was built by my other two group partners. It has two wrestlers sliding on a horizontal platform. We have used a stepper motor to slide the wrestlers. The speed and direction of the motor is controlled by focus (concentration/attention) of the player. I have hacked the Neurosky mindflex sensor with the Arduino UNO board and processing to read and record the EEG signal to detect the focus (attention/concentration) and mediation state of the players.
Here in this game, players have to wear a Mindflex headgear and focus to move their wrestlers. A player who focuses more his wrestler pushes the other player’s wrestler more in the opposite direction. The aim of the game is to push the other’s wrestler into the pit which puts at both the end of platform.
During the development of this wrestling game I had developed some interesting games and applications in processing which uses the brain waves (EEG Signals) as user input.
