LSU Football Ops Microsite

Summary
Our agency was recently tasked with creating a microsite to introduce a $20M expansion to LSU's Football Operations Facility, the heart of LSU's storied football program. We knew right away this would be a great opportunity to use Angular to create a polished, seamless front-end experience. In terms of messaging, we focused on directly connecting the building's upgrades to an improved experience for the student-athletes and success on the field. We also wanted to give visitors a behind-the-scenes look into what is needed to keep a top-tier football program running year-in and year-out. The result is a dynamic, engaging microsite which encourages exploration and rewards sharing. See the website here.
Responsibilities for this project included UX and visual design as well as coordination of all production.
A full-screen, parallax slider is the centerpiece of the homepage. Each slide focuses on one of the four areas undergoing renovation, with subtle 'room tone' audio providing an extra layer of context.
A detail of the photo treatment. We wanted each photo to convey the energy and excitement behind the facility's expansion.
Advanced CSS blending modes let us create overlays with the live text behind the headline.
Custom icons were created as a shorthand for referencing the four areas of the facility undergoing renovations.
Interactive tooltips showcase areas of interest for each room. These let us convey loads of specific information, which diehard sports fans appreciate, without the visual clutter.
Sign the Chain
In addition to providing information about the expansion, we wanted to create an incentive for visitors to share the page with friends. We decided to use one of LSU Football's most powerful traditions — 'the chain'. Every year, the team's players sign their name onto a massive ship's chain, which is then painted over for the next year's team. We took this concept a little further by allowing visitors to 'sign the chain' by sharing the page, with each share increasing the number of links in the chain. The chain itself is a draggable, interactive feature that showcases some of the Tiger greats who have signed their name on the chain in the past.
