On my Art Foundation course I had a lot of sessions on life drawing. They really helped a lot in my confidence in sketching, I was able to learn how to draw human figures with the correct proportions and practice techniques such as varying line weight and using it to add depth to sketches.

In this drawing I added in some dark areas from the background to really bring out the human figure, attempting to make the sketch look less flat.

In this piece I rubbed a graphite stick over the sketch to add a grainy texture, it was also useful to pick out the shadows on the bed that the model was lying on.
