The Other Side of Hell -- Part 1

The last series on Hell's Canyon ("Eden in Hell") was photographed from the Idaho side of the canyon.  This series is photographed from the Oregon side, thus the title.   This series begins in a very remote and difficult to reach northern section of the canyon.  The terrain is very rugged, striking and beautiful.  Our journey will begin at Dug Bar on the Snake river, then proceed through the beautiful canyon country of the Imnaha river and up to the high country of Hat Point lookout, across from the Seven Devil's mountains.  This journey will require several series for me to complete.  I hope that everyone can survive this journey on the other side of Hell.!

Nez Perce memorial
This is the place where the Nez Perce native Americans crossed the swift and dangerous Snake river.  They lost many cattle and some horses to the deep and swift current.  There are very few places through Hell's Canyon where the terrain widens and access to the river is easy.
