ClusterTruck

I developed a logo for Landfall Games whose game ClusterTruck had a very popular beta release. The game involves a huge amount of trucks all traveling like a herd along a highway with the player jumping from one to the other in order to win. The typography reflects the movement of the trucks as they jostle and collide with each other.
That's me on the right with Philip Örum on the left and Wilhelm Nylund in the center (both from Landfall Games).
As usual I started with sketching ideas...
...before moving on to look at some fonts...
I looked at how the player jumps over trucks...
...and then at how the trucks themselves collide into each other.
I then started creating a 2D version of the generic truck from the game.
And then a 3D version of the game's truck which I turned into a cinematic version of the logo.
I started using the type as a metaphor for the action in the game.
Feedback from Landfall Games was they they didn't want 3D type so it was back to the drawing board. I started using the font from the game: Proximity.
First a cleaner version of the type clustering....
...followed by a more clustered version...
...and then a movie-like version.
And then moving in the opposite direction to create a very clean minimal version of the type.
And adding a trucker hat to add an another element to the logo.
This version deliberately blurs the line between the 'T' and the 'R' to allude to an 'F' for humor.
A friend of the guys at Landfall Games was inspired by my logos to create this final logo for the game.
