This was a personal project photographing footballer Rhiannon Ishmael. I wanted to find an interesting way to show her playing football, other than out on the pitch, so had the idea of bringing a small slice of pitch into the studio, as you would place a model on a base.

I started with an initial concept sketch

and then photographed Rhiannon in the studio, kicking the ball into a cloth backdrop to avoid destroying the studio.

The background was then replaced, to create the final images.
