Life-sketches – 2012

Life-sketches
2011 – 2012

Medium: Pencil, graphite, charcoal, black ball pen, sketch pen, poster paints, brush & ink, and tea on paper.

Life-sketch at a public Tea Point, pencil on paper.
I was having Tea as usual in college canteen and did this life-sketch of a group of some college mates with a Ball Pen and used the Tea I was having to apply some layers of color!
Exhausted rickshaw-puller resting during afternoon hours in one of very hot days in Delhi.

It's a life-sketch of a group of people having a conversation in my college canteen.
Two different life-sketches drawn on one paper... I was trying to understand space division and arrangement of different objects in order to make an interesting composition.
Life-sketch of a man sitting roadside watching a empty street, perhaps he too wondered how lonely a crowded city like Delhi could get sometimes...?
Quick sketch of two juniors in college. I tried to capture the dedication of a fresher working hard in their first year and having no care of where they may need to sit even if their clothes may get really dirty.
It's a life-sketch of a man around 45–50 years old. Whenever I saw him having a cup of tea—he'd be standing on the very same place with those same expressions—I can't forget his dull face and loosened body standing roadside, daily smoking and having tea! I would observe that man from the other side of the road daily, sitting on one of the parked motorcycles or scooters by people visiting their relatives in the Nursing Home located just next my the tea point I would come to daily. After a couple of days I decided to sketch him once, the result is above!
Life-sketch near my Tea point, used Stabilo Pen.

It was the time of winter, the guy had to put on heavy clothes to keep himself warm though he seemed like he didn't like them.
I sketched him and added few bigger than life-size birds next to him trying to composition the space.

Life-sketch of a batchmate in college drawn with a rotring fountain pen during a History of Arts lecture. Added some colors in the background later.
Imaginary sketch drawn during some sort of a guest lecture in college to which I just couldn't pay attention. Too boring and random!
Self Portrait

I wanted do a self-portrait the whole day but only got a bit of free time around by 2 AM before falling asleep. I started and took around 30 minutes to draw myself (used a mirror to see myself).
Self-Portrait with a friend sitting in an auditorium's canteen. I'd just seen our reflection in one of the glasses mounted on the walls and started doodling while having a conversation.
