Surf Shack is a surf school and outreach programme. The client wanted to communicate how Surf Shack helps children overcome drugs and gangsterism through surfing.
We told their stories from tragedy to triumph. The visuals had to create empathy for these children, while protecting their identity. So we photographed them up close and personal. Then designed the type to expose the photography just enough for the reader to be able to peer into the eyes of the portrait and get a glimpse of what we saw. The campaign is helping to explain what Surf Shack does as an organization while attracting volunteers and driving donations.
