Little Lava Park is a 200-acre nature preserve located just outside of Bend, Oregon. It's a hotspot of activity, community, and discovery, featuring miles of hiking trails, the Deschutes River, and the Oregon Owl Sanctuary.
In the heart of Oregon lies Little Lava Park - a nature-preserve located in the Deschutes National Forest. The park features over 10 miles of hiking trails, two parks, Tumalo Falls, the Deschutes River, and various other recreation opportunities. The park serves as a community hub and hosts multiple events each month, ranging from summer movie screenings on the lawn to weekend backpacking trips. Little Lava Park is also home to the Oregon Owl Sanctuary.

The Oregon Owl Sanctuary is funded and operated by the Oregon Owl Organization, a non-profit whose volunteers are dedicated to owl conservation and public education. The onsite rescue center specializes in the care, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned owls.

Over 30 non-releasable owls are permanent residents at the sanctuary, some assist with fostering orphans and some assist in educating the public. The sanctuary also offers free on site educational programs, with a goal of educating people of all ages about the importance of owls in our environment, and what we can do to help.
